2019 and 2020 RECOGNITIONS

The industry and academic advisory board of the Michigan Collegiate Cyber Defense Network recognizes Baker College and Davenport University as institutions of Academic Excellence in Cyber Security and Networking.

This recognition was presented at the Michigan 14th annual collegiate cyber defense competition, qualifier and assessment that was hosted by Davenport University on February 15th, 2020. The awards were presented by the industry representatives Steven Fall, Jacob Brabbs, Wanderson Castihlo and James Lewis.

Baker College of Flint

The Baker College student cyber defense team has consistently placed in the top three positions every year they have participated in the State of Michigan, and placed first a total of two times in the national championship. second in multiple Michigan collegiate cyber defense qualifiers and competitions. Baker College of Flint is leading the way in cyber defense education and have hosted several competitive events since the first one in 2007.

Davenport University, Lettinga Campus

Davenport University has provided unparalleled support for Michigan CCDN state qualifiers and competitions and have hosted the Michigan Collegiate Cyber Defense Networks annual qualifier, competition and assessment continuously for nine years from 2012 through 2020. Their student cyber defense team has placed in the top three positions in multiple Michigan collegiate cyber defense qualifiers and competitions.

Jackson Community College

The Jackson College student cyber defense team has shown remarkable skill in taking second place in their very first collegiate cyber defense competition and qualifier and in several others since 2007. They have hosted a mid-west regional cyber defense competition, hacking competition and cyber briefing. The skills demonstrated by their student team has set the highest standards for community colleges in the state of Michigan.


Individuals

The industry and academic advisory board of the Michigan Collegiate Cyber Defense Network awarded Pete Anderson, a faculty member at Davenport University, the 2018 Cyber Security and Networking Instructor of the Year.  Mr. Anderson was presented with this award during the 13th annual 2019 Michigan Cyber Defense Qualifier and Assessment on February 16th 2019 by Michigan CCDN Board President James Lewis and attending board members. Mr. Anderson received this award by way of unanimous vote of his peers for his unyielding dedication to his students, his institution and this profession.  His award reads:
